Front Door Color – Curb Appeal that Sells

Front Door Color - Curb Appeal that Sells

Creating an exterior that is appealing doesn’t have to require a large budget.  I am a fan of painting your front door a statement color. Now sometimes, depending on the style and the colors of the rest of the house, that may mean black.  Often there are elements to the exterior that may not be changing so a good black is my “go to.”

I often rely on the neighborhood vibe as well when it comes to making bold choices in a front door color.  The apple green door that I did this fall was in a hip and artsy neighborhood. The location was a perfect match for a fresh, bold selection that is definitely memorable.

Mid-century styling often favors natural wood tones and orange hues. When I wanted to add that design element with a dark charcoal exterior for some contrast I used a bright orange for this front door color to draw attention to a rambler that I wanted to stand out to home buyers.

Lately, on some more traditional exteriors, I have been using complementary color tones.  For example, light grey exterior and a moody steel grey for the exterior door and shutters.

My Front Door Colors for 2019

I am also a fan of a bright red door. Classic and timeless especially with white or light grey exteriors.
